11 Weeks Pregnant...
What else is going on?

  • fetal age = 9 weeks

You're now 11 weeks pregnant and everything is already in place so lets see what's going on with baby this week.

Your baby is now about 1.5 inches long and weighs about 0.3 ounces. The fetal growth is rapid now and he will double his size over the next 3 weeks.

The head is still pretty large, about the same size as the body. The eyes are still closed and complete, they now include the whites of the eye, iris and the pupil.

The baby's whole body is sensitive to touch except for the tongue (the taste buds are starting to develop). He can stick out his tongue and swallow as well.

The baby's little fingers and toes are no longer webbed, they have completely separated. Fingernails are beginning to appear. Some of the baby's bones are beginning to harden while tiny little tooth buds are starting to appear under the gums. Baby can now flex his fingers, make a fist and wrinkle his little forehead.

The chin rises from the chest as the head uncurls backwards towards the spine. The neck is developing and getting longer.

The brain is growing rapidly and producing more than 250,000 nerve cells a minute. The baby's blood is oxygenated through the placenta. Your baby's ears are slowly moving from the neck towards the sides of his head. As the baby urinates, the amniotic fluid is constantly replaced.

Although external genitalia is starting to show recognizable features and the testes or ovaries are completely formed, it's still a little too early to determine if your baby is a boy or girl...stick with us week by week and you will make it to that point before you know it.
