2 Weeks Pregnant...
Ovulation

  • fetal age = 0 weeks

The week after your period you are considered to be 2 weeks pregnant, even though you still haven't conceived just yet. I know, I know...sounds confusing huh?

Your pregnancy is calculated from the 1st day of your last menstrual period and you normally don't ovulate until about 2 weeks after your period...which is when you will finally get pregnant.

During the beginning of this week is when you will finally ovulate. One of your eggs will burst from its follicle and is then taken away from your ovary and into the fallopian tube.

Within the next 12-24 hours the egg is then fertilized by one of the millions of sperm that manage to swim all the way up through your cervix, up into your uterus to the fallopian tube and making it's way through the outer membrane of the egg. Whew! Sounds like a lot of work doesn't it!

Within three or four days after conception has occured, the fertilized egg will start to change from a ball of cells (morula) into a layer of hundreds of cells clustered around a fluid-filled cavity, called a blastocyst.

Your little blastocyst will begin the long 7-to-10-day journey down your fallopian tubes into the uterus.

So while your waiting for the miracle of life to begin inside of you...it's not a bad idea to start eating healthy and taking prenatal vitamins.

Your body will be the roof over your baby's head for the next 9 months...keep up on the maintenance!

Congrats Mommy...
you're finally pregnant! You just don't know it yet!
