31 Weeks Pregnant
Countdown...9...

  • fetal age = 29 weeks
You're 31 weeks pregnant and your baby is about 16.5 inches long and weighs about 3.5 pounds.

Your baby is gaining about 1/2 a pound a week now with each added layer of baby fat. As your baby puts on 'white' fat under the skin, the redness of the skin will disappear.

His immune system is still developing and has gained an abundant amount of strength over the past few weeks. Of course a large amount of the immune strength will also come from baby's exposure to breast milk and other outside essentials.

Baby's lungs and digestive tracts are almost mature enough for the outside world. As your baby responds to light, the iris of the eye can dilate and contract.

Baby's fingernails have grown to the ends of the fingers and he can sometimes scratch himself while in the womb. Loud noises can startle your little baby and make him jump.

It's a tight squeeze in there so baby's kicks are getting stronger. You may even be able to pick out a little body part, like a foot or an elbow.
