37 Weeks Pregnant
Countdown...3...

  • fetal age = 35 weeks

You're 37 weeks pregnant and your baby is about 19.5 inches long and weighs about 7 pounds. The head is over 3.5 inches in diameter. At 37 weeks, your baby is considered to be full term (Babies born between 37 and 42 weeks are considered to be full term).

In most cases, if you were to go into labor nothing will be done to stop it even though you still have 3 weeks until your due date.

The vernix and downy hair on baby is almost gone. At this stage approximately 9 quarts of blood flows through the placenta per minute and it's filled with oxygen and food.

Your baby has learned to coordinate sucking, swallowing and breathing so that after birth he'll be able to do all three while breastfeeding. Using amniotic fluid, babies will practice shallow breathing before birth.

Your baby will turn his head towards light and sound just like a newborn would. The internal organs are developed enough to function in the outside world, although the immune system is still developing and will continue to develop after birth.
