Were you diagnosed with a possible miscarriage?
I know that when I found out that I was going to miscarry with my fourth pregnancy, it was heartbreaking.
What is a miscarriage? It's the end of a pregnancy where the embryo or the fetus is incapable of surviving. A fetus that dies after the 20-24th week of pregnancy is considered to be a stillbirth.
Pregnancy failure can occur for many reasons, many can not even be identified. It's said that most women will experience a miscarriage sometime in their lifetime and some may not even realize that it's happened.
Some of these unsuccessful pregnancies will occur before the woman knows that she's even pregnant. Around 15% of fertilized eggs are lost before the egg even has a chance to implant into the uterus.
A pregnancy loss is most likely to happen early in pregnancy, that's why the first trimester is the most crucial time during pregnancy. Studies show that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in a miscarriage.
I was so shocked to hear that because my first three pregnancies went fine and I never would have thought that my fourth pregnancy would end like this.
