28 Weeks Pregnant...
Talk to your Little Baby
You're 28 weeks pregnant and your baby is about 14.8 inches long and weighs about 2.2 pounds. Those precious little feet are just over 2 inches long.
Your baby responds to light and dark, therefore he does a lot of blinking. He has regular intervals for being awake and asleep. Brain waves show rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, which means your baby may actually have dreams!
Your baby's brain continues to mature and is now developing the folds and grooves of a fully developed brain. The tissues within the brain also continues to increase in considerable amounts. Branches of lungs are developed now, but baby still needs those last 12 weeks to ensure a healthy little body.
Fat is still filling up underneath the skin which is good for baby to help keep him warm and healthy after birth. The baby's skeleton is changing; cartilage is ossifying into strong hard bones. Baby's skull remains soft though so that he can fit gently into the birth canal.
During this time of pregnancy your belly should grow about an inch a week. It's possible for daddy to hear baby's heartbeat from approximately 28 weeks on using a toilet paper roll. The best spot to hear the little one's heartbeat is about four inches under your belly button.
